There are smaller blocks but unless you’re doing mass production, we think these are a great size. Big enough to hold enough moisture so you don’t have to water them every day. The individual plastic wrap on each block also helps protect the blocks from drying out too quickly and prevents the roots from a plant in one block from growing into it’s neighboring block (if you’re starting more than one).

We’ve tried a number of different nutrients, at different prices, and complexity to use. This has given us great results and it’s the simplest we’ve used, and at a great price. It is marketed as “for blooming flowers” but it also works well for all other phases of growth as well. If you want to keep things super-simple, just get this.

If you want to keep your garden super-simple, you can just use the MaxiBloom formula above for all your stages of growth and blooming. But when you want fast, vigorous growth, this is what you want.

We like to assemble our own DWC buckets to meet our specific needs. But this appears to be a good starter option for the beginner who wants a “turn-key” system.
